## Ques 1.

A boat running upstream takes 528 min to cover a certain distance, while it takes 240 min to cover the same distance running downstream. What is the ratio between the speed of boat and speed of the water current, respectively.

**Solution :**

==>(528+240 ) : (528-240) = 768 : 288

ratio = 8:3

## Ques 2.

The population of a village is 5500.if the number of males increases by 11% and the number of females increases by 20% ,then the population becomes 6330.find the population of females in the town?

**Solution :**

m + f = 5500 --(i)

111m + 120f = 633000 --(ii)

solve (i) and (ii)

female = 2500

## Ques 3.

The cash down value of an article is 12500. It can be brought at credit 14300 payable one year hence at 10% per annum. The trader gets a profit of?

**Solution :**

profit = (14300*100/110) - 12500

=500

## Ques 4.

A batsman played three matches in a tournament. The ratio of the score of 1st to 2nd match was 8:9 and that of the score of 2nd to 3rd match was 3:2. The difference between the 1st and the 3rd match was 16 runs. What was the batsman's average score in all the three matches?

**Solution :**

1st:2nd:3rd=24x:27x:18x=8x:9x:6x

8x-6x=2x=16runs

==>x=8

8×8=64

8×9=72

8×6=48

Average = 64+72+48=184/3

## Ques 5.

Gopi and Raj started a business by investing Rs 5,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively. After 9 months, their friend Syam joined them with Rs 12000. At the same time, Gopi and Raj withdrew Rs 1,000 each. If at the end of year Gopi and Syam together received Rs 12,250 as their share from the total profit, then what is the total profit?

**Solution :**

5000*9 + 4000*3 : 6000*9 + 5000*3 : 12000*3

=19 : 23 : 12

So [(23+12)/54]*x = 12,250

Solve, x = 18,900

## Ques 6.

Rakesh sold an item for Rs 8,400/- and incurred a loss of 25%. At what price should he have sold the item to have gained a profit of 40%?

**Solution :**

75%------ 8400

140%----- x

==>X= 15680

## Ques 7.

The respective ratio between base and height of a triangle is 7:9. The area of the triangle is 504 sq.m . What is measure of the diagonal of a square whose side is equal to the base of triangle ?

**Solution :**

Area = 504

Area = 1/2 * b * h = 1/2 * 7x * 9x =1/2* 63 * X^2

==> 1/2 * 63 X^2 = 504

==>X=4

Base = 7 *4 = 28

Diagonal of square = √2 a = √2 * 28

## Ques 8.

What must be added to 3/7 to get 57/14 ?

**Solution :**

3/7 + X = 57/14

==>X = 51/14

## Ques 9.

9 33 105 321 ? 2913

**Solution :**

Difference of numbers

33-9= 24

105-33=72

321-105 =216

Difference is multiplied by 3

Next Difference must be 216*3 = 648

Next Number = 648+321= 969

## Ques 10.

What sum of money will amount to Rs.6899.20 at 12% per annum in two years, interest being compounded annually ?

**Solution :**

For two years formula 2 (A)+1(B) = Compound Interest(C.I)

A = rate = 12

B= 12% of 12= 1.44

C.I = 2(12)+1(1.44)=25.44

Assume P = 100

Now Total Amount give = 6899.20

Total Amount = 100 +25.44=125.44

125.44% ----- 6899.2

100% ---------- X

P = 5500
