Vocabulary Tricks Part 34: The Beggar Problem In India

Published on Saturday, March 04, 2017
The beggar problem in India is due to the economic deprivation and destitution. There is no proper enumeration of beggars in our nation. Abject poverty force people to beg.
Some people collect alms by dancing or singing. Begging in our country is a crime. The enforcement of the anti-beggar law is arbitrary as well as inhumane. Many NGOs are trying hard to improve the condition of beggars.

Many people consider begging as a viable profession. There are many dangerous beggar mafias. They abduct children and force them to beg.
More than 60 percent beggars are able- bodied. Some beggars are able to earn more than a labourer. We Indians think that it is our moral duty to help the poor. Instead of giving money to beggars we should donate to the bonafide organisations which help the beggars.
