# Tricks to solve Syllogism Questions Quickly - PDF

Syllogism is an important chapter for every competitive exam in which there is Reasoning ability section. In IBPS PO Prelims 2015, there were 5 questions from Syllogism. Many candidates face problem in solving these simple questions so I decided to write a detailed tutorial on this chapter.

## Types of conditions

As I always try to make things simple so instead of writing formulae and all that bulky stuffs, here I am explaining the technique using simple examples.

### 1) All pigs are animals. Some animals are mammals

In this example, there are two sub-conditions.

Condition 1 - All pigs are animals. So circle Pig will be covered by circle Animals.
Conditions 2 - Some animals are mammals. This sub-conditions give two situations :- 1) Some pigs are mammals 2) No Pig is mammal.

### 2) All pigs are animals. All animals are mammals

This example is bit simple. All pigs are part of category animal and all animals are part of category mammals.

### 3) Some pigs are animals. All animals are mammals

In this example there are two conditions. There is no proper order to apply these conditions. Some pigs are animals.  All animals are mammals so Animals circle is covered Mammals circle.

Conclusion is some but not all pigs are mammals.

In exam, try to make circles for every syllogism question. These questions take hardly 20-30 seconds to solve with this method. This year these type of questions replaced mirror image questions, so never skip these marks rich questions.

## Practice Questions

Today we are sharing Practice Sets of Syllogism. Try out these and share your marks. Keep Practicing !

1. Hello sir,
Please post the trick of syllog which contains "Possibility" and "atleast" keywords.

Thanks

1. Sure I will make additions

1.All apartments are huts.
2. no hut is a building
3. all buildings are cottages
Conclusion:

1. no apartment is a cottage
2. Some buildings being apartments is a possibility

1. 1.All apartments are huts. ---- this ia a type A
2. no hut is a building -------- this is a type E
3. all buildings are cottages ------------ this is a type A

conclusion 1:no apartment is a cottage (this is not true)
here we can get A+E=E
i.e.means conclusion we get ,,, no apartment is a building (which does not follow)
conclusion 2: Some buildings being apartments is a possibility (not true)
why 2 &3 i.e. E+A=O*
i.e. Some cottages are not hurt , hence it does not follow.
i hope you have understand .thanks ,HAPPY READING :)

2. first one will follow , using parent - child technique..................

3. 1. no apartment is a cottage -- (False)
2. Some buildings being apartments is a possibility--(False)
Using my technique

4. do possibility questions only by venn diagram ...........this A+E and other techniques are all bogus

1. Sab A+E & all is bullshit and trying to be a cheetah is suicidal.Venn diagram is the best approach.pehla sahee hain ,second is wrong.

3. sir i have one problem i will b very thankful to you if u solve this.

in syllogism possibility case "will normal conclusion be right or not" like
STATEMENT:
some A are B.
all B are C.
CONCLUSION:
some A being C is a possibility.
all A being c is a possibility.

which will be right conclusion???

1. Some A being C is a possibility.....but not the second one.

2. 2nd is right

3. 2nd is absolutely right

4. 2nd one is right

5. 1st will be right

6. both correct

7. I think only 2nd one is true..please let me know if i am wrong.

8. Lokesh I am at present facing the same problem as you did in the past so want to know if you found solution to it because people are giving contradicting views and I want a reliable source.

9. some+ all=some
again
some A are C=All A being C is Possibility

so both the conclusion is right

and finally i think with the help of Ven Diagram We cannt solve these type of question

10. Only 2nd is true, because some a are c is confirmed case, so 1st can not be in possibility case

11. as per me its Either 1 or Either 2 case,How come both the possibilities be true yaar ??

12. only 2 conclusion is true

13. hey guys. jab bhi conclusion me possibity aye tab use verify karne ka ek hi tarika hai .. ke aap us conclusion ko le kar given statement ko prove kar do yani reverse order me chalo.

2nd conclusion says .. all A is C is POSSIBILITY
as per rule.... draw venn diagram for all A is C. JO ki khud conclusion me given hai. now jo statements hai use dekh k is veen diagram me fit krne ki koshish karo. agar sab statements aap draw kar pae. then this statement with possibiliy term is valid ..otherwise not..

remember possibilty means anything >0 and <=100 %.

usually what happens that we can normally draw venn diagrams in multiple ways,,,..is lae possibility wala conclusion agar ek bhi diagram se valid ho jae to vo sahi hai.. otherwise not..

but on the otherside...jis conclusion me agar possibility word nae hai..wahn pe vo conclusion har ek different venn dia. se valid hona chahiye..agar kisi ek se bhi vo valid nahi hota to toh vo overall valid nahi hoga..

i mean to say...agar aapke pass 4 type ke venn dia ban rae hai..
to

possibilty wali conclusion kisi ek dia se bhi prove ho gae to vo valid hai. thats why i say ki aap use reverse order me le kar chalo aur dekho ke aap statements us diagram me fit kar pa rahe ho ya nahi.

but normal statement agr kisi ek venn dia se bhi reh gae to vo valid nahi hogi.

in this post jo ramandeep sir ne first venn diagram post kiya hia ..us me do alag alag venn dia possible hai...
now ..
conclusion 1: some pigs being mammals is a possiblity.
conclusion 2: some pigs are mammals

which conclusion is follows?
clearly conc. 1 has a possibilty word in it..so it is true as it is valid for ATLEAST one type of venn dia. arrangement.
but conclusion 2 never follows coz vo ek dia se to sahi but dusre se nahi..remember ....without "possibility" statement means always 100%..so it is not valid...

i know it will be bit difficult for you to understand.. but trust me ... this way you will never get wrong answers and you need continuous practice to get familiarr with the rules. best way to solve syllogisn is by using the standards rules but some times especially with possibilty type conclusions its better to draw venn diagram.. rest in case any doubt , you can contact me on...

viveksharma.v27@gmail.com

for this ques. both conclusion are valid. moreover either wala case bhi nahi hoga. coz possibilty ka matlab is not 100%. so do uncertain cheezo me either wala case nahi aa sakta.

moreover in normal conclusion either wala case kuch specific pairs ke liye hi valid hota hai..jaise some-no type ke do conclusions hai etc.. but condition is for both such conclusions ..subject and predicate should be same. and they both should be valid seperately.

4. Sir plz tell me that how many quest be attempe in sbipo in every sect toh clear cutoff plz rply sir

B. if only II follows.
C. if either I or II follows.
D. if neither I nor II follow.
E. if both I and II follow..

6. hello sir.....questions you have shown regarding round table arrangement are not as tough as given in po exams ... sir. u r requested to make us solve those type of questions in which a lot of conditions are there....like 8 friend.8 companies,8 choices etc....we will be highly obliged 2 u.

7. Sir can u pls upload any techinques to solve the possibility cases in syllogism....

8. thanks a lot... i had problems regarding syllogism with possibilities.. nw its 100% clear to me :)

9. this is noy sufficent. for given answer in ibps or sbi exam

10. sir plz disuss more latest sylolism problem.i am helpless to solve it.or save my time

11. Sir can u pls upload any techinques to solve the possibility cases in syllogism....

12. sir would you please answer basha's question.

13. sir .. Why we can't solve syllogism's '''being possibilty'' questions....i mean to say. You must have a way except A+E combination techniq..pls sir tell me.i have solved a number questions of syllogism but i am not able to solve '' being possibilty''' problems.. I don't know why.. Help us..how these will be. Show me.... Its my humbl request.. Sir.. From sumit +919041671357.. Email-id khungersumit@gmail.com
