List of important appointments made in the month of April, 2014.

1) R. M. Lodha has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of India on 27 April, 2014.

• He took over as CJI from P.Sathasivam 
• The retirement age of the CJI is 65 or 3 years as CJI, whichever is earlier. 
• Mohammad Hidayatullah is the only CJI who also acted as the President of India. In fact he is the only person to have served in all 3 positions of the country, President, Vice- president & CJI 

2) Admiral R. K. Dhowan has been appointed as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff of India on 17 april, 2014.

• His predecessor was admiral D.K.Joshi , who reigned from his post in February due to many naval accidents. 

3) Justice G. Rohini became first woman chief justice of Delhi High Court on 21 april, 2014.

• She replaced Budder Durrej Ahmed who was acting CJ in place of N V Ramana.
