  • The work of the railway bridge at Noney in Manipur, India began, after completion of the whole work, this railway bridge become the world’s tallest railway bridge.
  • Liberia declared the State of Emergency on 6th August 2014. The President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf declared the State of Emergency over the outbreak of Ebola Virus. Ebola Virus is normally called a Ebola hemorrhagic fever which will harmfully affected the human body. To take the initial steps, Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan ordered to all the airports to form the check posts for checking the Ebola Virus.
  • The Government of India raised the limit of Foreign Direct Investment in the Defense Sector from 26% to 49%. Foreign Direct Investment is a direct investment in the production of the country by the company of another country or individual.
  • Securities Laws (Amendment) Bill 2014 passed in Lok Sabha to empower Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and also strengthen it. This bill will give express powers for the any settlement and also empowers SEBI to establish the special courts to strengthen it.
  • Kapil Dev will become the Head of Arjuna Awards Selection Committee while Ajit Pal Singh is likely to be charge of selecting the Dronacharya Awardees. Kapil Dev is a former Cricketer who won the Cricket World Cup for India in the year 1983 by defeating the then world’s strongest team West Indies while Ajit Pal Singh is a famous hockey skipper. The present Sports Secretary is Ajit Sharan.
  • The Government of India has raised to 100% Foreign Direct Investment in the Railway Department. This is happening first time in India. The FDI raised to 100% by the Union Government with the hope to expansion the railway and to make India a strong economy.
  • The Cricket Team of India equaled the world record of maximum 6 played gone on ducks in a test innings. There are three more teams, their 6 players were gone on duck i.e. Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh. From the total four teams, there are three teams from Asia.
