Appointments
- The Army Chief General of Pakistan appointed as mediator to defuse political crisis. Since two weeks, political crisis in Pakistan is going on, the reason behind political crisis in Pakistan is that the senior leaders of Pakistan claimed that Nawaz Sharif (the present Prime Minister of Pakistan) won by a landslide was rigged.
- Baba Kalyani re-nominated as Co-Chairman of India-Japan Business Leader’s Forum, the Forum consisting 15 members, the Forum to leverage the trade and investment between the two countries.
Sports
- Yohann Diniz became the first man to win three successive European titles over the distance. He broke the 50-km walk record in the European Athletics Championship set by Denis Nizhegorodov.
- The Samsung Electronics Company Limited announced the names of 12 Samsung Sports Ratnas for 17th Asian Games which unveiled with the theme ‘Our Games, Our Pride’.
Politics
- The Indian Government notified enhancing the social security cover limit run by the (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) EPFO. With this notification, all the employees of EPFO will be entitled to Minimum monthly pension of Rs.1000 under ‘Employees pension Scheme – 1995’.
- The Legislative Council of Jammu and Kashmir passed the resolution urging union to Indo-Pak talks. The Chairman of Legislative Council is Amrit Malhotra and the resolution supported by the ruling party of Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference.
- The Government of India signed the agreement with World Bank for Mizoram State Roads Project. Under the guidelines of agreement, International Development Agency will provide assistance of $107mn to complete the project.
- The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi arrived at Japan. This is his first bilateral foreign visit outside the South Asia. At this visit, India signed the MOU to turn Varanasi into a ‘Smart City’. ‘Kyoto’ the City of Japan would provide its expertise to turn Varanasi into a ‘Smart City’.
- According to Central Statistics Office, 5.7% GDP growth rate recorded in the first quarter of financial year 2014-15 which is the best growth rate for past 10 quarters.
Deaths
- The famous professor of History Shri Bipan Chandra died. He wrote various books. He awarded with Padma Bhushan Award, the 2nd highest civilian award of India in the year 2010.
Awards
- Herry Belafonte, the famous of Actor and Singer of United States of America to receive Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Oscar Award given by the Academy of Motion Pictures. Generally, he is known as the ‘King of Calypso’.
