  • Taslima Nasreen, the writer of Bangladesh get one year visa that allows her to stay in India till the year next year August 2015. He is a famous author of Bangladesh.

  • Eight Commemorative Postage Stamps on famous Indian Musicians released by the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The eight musicians are:
  1. Pandit Ravi Shankar
  2. Pandit Bhimsen Joshi
  3. D.K. Pattammal
  4. Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur
  5. Gangubhai Hangal
  6. Pandit Kumar Gandharva
  7. Ustad Vilayat Khan
  8. Ustad Ali Akbar Khan
  • On 02nd September 2014, the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Karnataka Shri U.T. Khader launched ‘Health Adalat’. The State of Karnataka became first to launch the Health Adalat.
  • During the official visit to Japan, Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi inaugrated TCS Japan Technology and Culture Academy, the joint venture of TCS and Mitsubishi Corporation to enhance the technological and cultural knowledge between the Indian and Japanese IT Professionals.

Deaths

  • Bala Thampoe, the famous trade unionist of Sri Lanka died. He was a lawyer and a General Secretary of Ceylon Mercantile Union in Sri Lanka for the last 65 years, the Union came under the influence of Lanka Sama Samaja Party.
  • Norman Gordon, the world’s oldest test cricketer died on 02nd September 2014. He is from South Africa. He was the last man alive to played test cricket before the World War-II.
  • India’ first Muslim Attorney General Goolam Essanji Vahanvati died. He was 13th Attorney General of India and remained Solicitor General of India during the period 2004 to 2009. Now, Mukul Rohatgi is the 14th Attorney General of India.
  • A.P. Venkateshwaran, the former Foreign Secretary of India died. He was the Chairman of Asia Centre, the centre promotes political, cultural, economic and social exchanges between all the Asian Countries.

Appointments

  • On 27th September 2014, the present Chief Justice of India R.M. Lodha going to retire and after that Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu (H.L. Dattu) became the Chief Justice of India. He will become 42nd Chief Justice of India.

Science and Technology

  • To detect the presence of the fatal virus i.e. Ebola Virus, the researchers of Japan established the method namely ‘RT-LAMP’ (Reverse Transcription-loop-mediated isothermal Amplification). With the help of this method, the presence of Ebola Virus will detect just in 30 minutes.

Business and Economy

  • As per the data released by the Reserve Bank of India, Current Account Deficit of India narrowed down to 1.7% to Gross Domestic Product in the Quarter 1 of fiscal year 2014-15.

Awards

  • Vinod Mehta, the famous journalist selected for G.K. Reddy Memorial Award, the award presented annually. He is author of biographies of the famous actress Meena Kumar and the famous politician Sanjay Gandhi.
