Sports

  • Pankaj Advani, Snooker Player announced his retirement. He will be retired after participating the Indian Snooker Open which will be held during the from 15th September to 19th September 2014. 
  • Saeed Ajmal of Pakistan, World’s No.1 Spinner, suspended by International Cricket Council for illegal bowling action. He is a right-arm off Spin Bowler and represents the city Faisalabad in Pakistan. 

Politics

  • India signed an agreement with Germany for Skill Development and Solid Waste Management. The agreement signed during the official visit of Foreign Minister of Germany Frank Walter Steinmeier. 
  • India’ first Anti-TB Drug Resistance Survey launched by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan which is supported by World Health Organisation. Anti-TB Drug Resistance is a resistant to two or more of the first line drugs used to treat the disease. 
  • The Civil Aviation Ministry of India launched ‘Know Your Rights’ (KYR) portal, which will provide the information on the rights of passengers in cases of cancellation, denied boarding and delays. The portal launched to mark 100 days of newly formed government of India i.e. NDA. 
  • Islamic State of Iraq and Syria established the women brigade namely Al-Khansaa Brigade in Syria. Al-Khansaa was a famous Arabic Poet of the 7th century. ISIS militants took over many cities of Iraq recently. 
  • The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Harish Rawat selected 09th September to celebrate as ‘Himalaya Diwas’ to spread the message of conservation of the Himalayan ecosystems. 

Awards

  • Bhartendu Harishchandra Awards for the years 2011 and 2012 conferred by Information & Broadcasting Department. The Awards started in the year 1983. Firstly, the Awards given only in Journalism and Mass Communication but with the passage of time three more categories included i.e. National Integration, Women’s Issues and Children’s Literature in the year 1992. 

Science and Technology

  • T.N. Suresh Kumar, a senior Scientist of India became 1st Indian and 259th person in all over the world to visit the Stratosphere, the 2nd layer of the Earth’s atmosphere.
