Politics

  • Antara Haldar, Indian-origin became first non-European Law Lecturer at Cambridge University, the public research University. This is 2nd oldest University in the English speaking countries. 
  • The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee gave additional charge of Governor of Manipur to Dr.Krishna Kant Paul, the Governor of Meghalaya. Recently, Shri Vinod Kumar Duggal resigned from the post. 
  • Seven pacts signed between India and Vietnam to strengthen the strategic partnership in key sectors. The seven pacts are : 
  1. Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters 
  2. MoU on 100 Million Dollar Line of Credit for Defence Procurement 
  3. MoU in the field of Animal Health 
  4. MoU on Cooperation in the Field of setting up of Pangasius Breeding and Farming in India 
  5. MoU on Cooperation in Youth Affairs 
  6. Letter of Intent between ONGC Videsh India Ltd. and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petro Vietnam) 
  7. MoU between Jet Airways (India) and Vietnam Airlines Company Ltd. 
  • The President of Vietnam is Troung Tan Sang. 
  • Miss Kira Kazantsev of New York won Miss America Pageant crown while Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez won Miss USA 2014 recently. 
  • G-20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meet held at Australia. The basic aim of the meet is to increase the jobs across the G-20 to improve the productivity. G-20 is Group of 20 coutnries which established in the year 1999 to discuss the key issues in the global economy and India is one of G-20 Countries. 
  • International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer organized in all over the world on 16th September under the theme ‘Ozone Layer Protection : The Mission Goes On”. The day proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in the year 1994 as International Day for preservation of Ozone Layer. 
  • Tej Pratap Singh Yadav became the youngest Member of Parliament after winning the Lok Sabha by-election. He is just 26 years old and won from Mainpuri seat in Uttar Pradesh. He also became 6th member of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s family who became MP or MLA.

Sports

  • Boxing India recognised by AIBA. After getting the recognition, Ad-hoc Committee will no longer represent Boxing in India, the committee was established by Indian Olympic Association.

Technology

  • Microsoft acquires Mojang, makers of Minecraft for $2.5 billion
  • Google will provide download video option in India to people save bandwidth usage charge
