Politics

  • General Election held in Sint Marteen, the island in North-East Caribbean and United People’s Party won the election. Sint Marteen became a constituent country within the Kingdom of Netherlands in the year 2010. 
  • During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan, Japan removed six Indian space and defence entities from foreign end users list. This will help in defence technology cooperation. The Prime Minister of Japan is Shinzo Abe. 
  • Raul Khajimba won the Presidential Election, recently held in Abkhazia. In June 2014, the former President of Abkhazia resigned after leveling the allegations of corruption. 
  • Abdullah al-Thinni re-appointed as the Prime Minister of Libya. He is a former Defence Minister. 
  • The Himachal Pradesh High Court banned the animal sacrifice at any place of religious worship.Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Sureshwar Thakur issued the directions. 

Business and Economy

  • Ecuador will issue the Digital Currency. Ecuador will be the first nation to issue the Digital Currency. The currency will be issued by Central Bank of Ecuador. 
  • Reserve Bank of India issued guidelines on the implementation of Basel-III Capital Regulations. The guidelines will be affected with the immediate effect i.e. from 01st September 2014. 
  • According to Brookings Institution, Hyderabad tops for sending students for higher education to the United States of America during the period 2008-2012. 
  • License of five non-banking financial companies is cancelled by Reserve Bank of India. All the five companies are based in Kolkata, West Bengal. 

Deaths

  • The famous Kathak Dancer of South India Maya Rao died. He was from Bangalore. He awarded with Karnataka Rajyotsava awards in the year 1986. 

Sports

  • The Cricket team of India won ODI Series against England under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, after this victory, Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke the record of 90 ODI Wins set by Mohammad Azharuddin and became India’s most successful captain with the record 91 ODI Wins. 
  • Saina Nehwal, the star Indian shuttler would train under the new coach Shri Vimal Kumar. She is the first Indian woman to won World Badminton Junior Championship.
