- Devendra Fadnavis (full name Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis) sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The oath ceremony held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is the 27th Chief Minister of the State but became 18th person.
- The State of Palestine officially recognized by Sweden and became the first European Union Country who done it.
- National Integration Day observed on 31st October i.e. on the eve of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also known as Iron Man of India.
- On 31st October 2014, the programme namely ‘FasTag’ launched by the Union Government of India. Under the programme, motorists can pay tolls electronically. The programme came into light under the partnership of National Highway Authority of India and Indian Highways Management Company Limited with ICICI Bank Ltd. and Asix Bank Ltd.

- According to the data revealed by the International Monetary Fund, China overtook the economy of United States of America in Purchasing Power Parity terms.
- The usage of ATMs in six metro cities of India reduced from 5 to 3. The six cities are:

- UCO bank became 2nd bank who tag Vijay Mallya as a wilful defaulter, the owner of Kingfisher Airlines. The first one was United Bank of India.
