Politics
- Beji Caid Essebsi became President of Tunisia, results declared on 22nd December 2014. He led Nidaa Tounes Party in Tunisia and received 44.32% votes.
- The State of Gujarat will host 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas during the period from 7 January 2015 to 9 January 2015. The event will mark the 100th year of Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa.
- Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) became the single largest party in the Assembly Elections with 28 seats out of 87, but not get the majority to form the government.
- Bharatiya Janta Party got the majority in the Assembly Elections of Jharkhand with 42 seats out of 81. BJP won 37 seats while its parnter ‘All Jharkhand Students Union’ won 5 seats.
- The Government of India constituted a committee to reinvestigate 1984 Anti-Sikh riot cases. The committee headed by Justice G.P. Mathur (retd.).

- Prakash Mishra appointed as Directorate General of Central Reserve Police Force on 22nd December 2014.
- Shyam Srinivasan appointed as Chairman of Indian Banks Association (IBA) Committee on Member Private Sector Banks for the year 2014-15.

- On 22nd December 2014, Ford Credit India got permission from Reserve Bank of India to operate as non-banking financial company.
- Walmart, the US retail company announced to open a Cash and Carry Store in Agra, India after the gap of about 2 years.
Deaths
- K. Balachander, the famous Director and Filmmaker, died on 23rd December 2014. He received Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the year 2010.
