- Paul van Ass appointed as Coach of National Men’s Hockey Team on 30th January 2015 succeeded by Terry Walsh of Australia.
- Kanagasabapathy J. Sripavan became 44th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka and sworn-in on 30th January 2015 succeeded by Shirani Bandaranayake.
- Krishna Chaudhary appointed as Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police on 30th January 2015.
- T. Suvarna Raju appointed as Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on 31st January 2015. He became 17th Chairman of HAL succeeded by R.K. Tyagi.

- Agni-V, longest range ballistic missle of India launched on 31st January 2015 from Wheeler Island, Odisha. The range of this missile is 5000 km.

- Serena Williams won Women’s Singles title Australian Open 2015 on 31st January 2015 after defeating Maria Sharapova. It was her 19th Grand Slam Singles title.
