How to start preparations for SBI PO 2015

Published on Monday, April 13, 2015
As all of you might know that SBI PO 2015 notification is already out. SBI is the largest bank of India and a dream employer for any competitive exams aspirant.

As SBI has modified it's exam pattern, we need to change the preparation strategy. During next few week I will talk about Preliminary exam only. In Prelim exam there are 100 questions which you need to solve within an hour.

Many of you will argue that in old pattern, there were 200 questions in 2 hours.

But you could easily solve 60 questions from GA and Computer awareness within 20 minutes. Now things have been changed. This strategy won't work.

Mantra to clear SBI PO Prelim
Identify easiest questions

 Time allocation

Section Ideal Time allocation Ideal Attempt
Reasoning 22 mins 15-17
Quantitative Aptitude 22 mins 18-20
English 15-16 mins 23-25

1 hour 55-62

It is assumed the level of difficulty will be same as previous exams. In easy of easier exam, more questions can be attempted in same time.

Ideal score

Right now it is almost impossible to find the expected cutoff but we should have a goal to start preparation.

90% accuracy with attempt of 55-62 will fetch you around 51-53, that will be a great score to clear Prelim exam.

I request you to read official notification here. It is clearly mentioned that candidates will be selected in ratio of approximately 20 times of the number of vacancies.

There are 2000 vacancies so 40000 candidates are to be called for Mains exam. So cutoff can't rise beyond 50 in any case.

Study Material

Within 2 days I will release free study material for SBI PO Prelim exam. Although there is lot of study material already available here on +BankExamsToday  which is useful for this exam.

I always recommend everybody to start with English Vocabulary. Download free list here.
