Bandhan Bank started


  • Bandhan Bank received its universal banking licence from Reserve Bank of India and rolled out its services on 23rd August 2015. The Bank started with 501 branches in almost 22 States in India which is highest branches of any private bank on the first day.

Usain Bolt won 100 m race title


  • Usain Bolt of Jamaica won 100 m race title at IAAF World Championship played in Beijing, China on 23rd August 2015 after defeating Justin Gatlin of USA. He completed his race in just 9.79 seconds.

U Mumba won Star Sports Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) title 2015


  • U Mumba won 2nd season of Star Sports Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) title for the year 2015 on 23rd August 2015 after defeating Bengaluru Bulls.

Scientists rejected the mini human brain


  • The team of Scientists had rejected the lab-grown mini human brain. The mini human brain developed by Scientist Rene Anand.

Global oil prices sank


  • On 22nd August 2015, Global oil prices sank below $40 a barrel for the first time in last more than six years.

ISIS attacked at Palmyra’s Temple of Baalshamin


  • Palmyra’s Temple of Baalshamin destroyed by ISIS militants on 23rd August 2015. The temple is one of the two supreme Gods of pre-Islamic Palmyra in ancient Syria. Palmyra is the famous city of Syria which is also known as ‘Pearl of Desert and Tadmur’. The Capital city of Syria is Damascus.

England won Ashes Test Series


  • England won Ashes Test Series on 23rd August 2015 after defeating Australia. Chris Rogers of Australia and Joe Root of England jointly won Man of Series Award.
