Kumar Sangakkara retired from Cricket

  • Kumar Sangakkara (Full name Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara) of Sri Lanka retired from International Cricket on 24th August 2015. He played his last test match against India in Colombo. He became highest ODI run scorer of Sri Lanka after Sanath Jayasuriya.

Roger Federer won Men’s singles title of Cincinnati Masters

  • Roger Federer won Men’s singles title of Cincinnati Masters on 23rd August 2015. It is his 7th Masters title. Serena Williams won Women’s singles title for the 2nd time. Cincinnati Masters is the 2nd largest Tennis tournament after US Open.

Aditi Ashok won Ladies British Amateur Golf Championship

  • Aditi Ashok became 1st Indian to won Ladies British Amateur Golf Championship on 22nd August 2015. She also became the youngest ever winner of this tournament.

Birth centenary celebration of Rani Gaidinliu was inaugurated

  • The birth centenary celebration of Rani Gaidinliu of Nagaland was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24th August 2015. A commemorative coin was also released on this eve.

750 MW solar power station will be established in Madhya Pradesh

  • 750 MW solar power station will be established in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh on as announced by Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh Rajendra Shukla on 23rd August 2015.
