Tamil Nadu instituted Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for Youth

  • The State Government of Tamil Nadu instituted the youth award namely Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for Youth on 31st July 2015. The State also declared 15th October (A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birthday) as Youth Revival Day.

Prabhroop Sekhon won 2 Gold Medals

  • Prabhroop Sekhon from Lucknow won 2 Gold Medals at Special Olympics World Games on 31st July 2015 played in Los Angeles, USA.

Pakistan became 1st non-European member of European Organisation for Nuclear Research

  • On 01st August 2015, Pakistan became first ever non-European member of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research also known as CERN.

South Sudan became 206th member of IOC

  • South Sudan became 206th member of International Olympic Committee on 01st August 2015. The President of South Sudan is Salva Kiir Mayardit.

  • The Cyclone namely ‘Komen’ hit Bangladesh and the States West Bengal, Manipur, Odisha of the country on 01st-02nd August 2015.

  • According to the data released by National Sample Survey on 01st August 2015, 67.3% rural population of India used firewood for cooking. While rural population of the State of Tamil Nadu used highest number of LPG.

Rajat Chauhan won Silver Medal in World Archery Championship

  • Rajat Chauhan from India won Silver Medal in World Archery Championship. Earlier, he won Gold Medal in Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.
