  • The ‘One Stop Centre’ also known as ‘Sakhi’ inaugurated by the State Government of Haryana on 31st August 2015. It is 2nd Centre of India, the 1st one is in Chhattisgarh.

  • Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi given the additional charge of Law Minister on 31st August 2015.

Mare Dibaba won women’s Marathon in World Athletics Championship

  • Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia won women’s Marathon in World Athletics Championship on 30th August 2015 and became 1st female of Ethiopia to win the event.

  • Rajiv Mehrishi appointed as Union Home Secretary on 31st August 2015.

USITC extended anti-dumping duty

  • United States International Trade Commission (USITC) extended anti-dumping duty on Indian preserved mushroom for the next 5 years on 30th August 2015. The District Solan, Himachal Pradesh is known as ‘Mushroom City of India’.

15th IAAF World Championship concluded

  • 15th IAAF World Championship concluded on 31st August 2015 in Beijing, China. Kenya ranked at No.1 position with 16 medals while Jamaica and USA stood at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Till date, India has won only 2 medals by Long Jumper Anju Bobby George in the year 2003 and 2005.

National Sports Day observed on 29th August

  • National Sports Day observed on 29th August 2015. The day celebrated on the birth anniversary of former Hockey Player Major Dhyan Chand. Sania Mirza awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2015. In the last year 2014, Shooter Ronjan Sodhi awarded with the award. Punjabi University, Patiala awarded with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy.
