  • Gurdeep Singh has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited. 

Leslie Berland appointed as CMO of Twitter Inc 

  • Micro blogging site Twitter has appointed Leslie Berland as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the company. She was working at American Express (AmEx) as executive vice-president of global advertising, marketing and digital partnerships.

Sania-Dodig lose in Australian Open mixed doubles semis 

  • Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis were crowned the Australian Open women's doubles champions after taming the spirited Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in straight sets on Friday.

Book named ‘Turbulent years’ released

  • The second part of President Pranab Mukherjee’s biography ‘Turbulent years’ was released yesterday. He has shared his political experiences in this book.

  • Australian batsman David Warner on 27 January 2016 defeated captain Steve Smith for the prestigious Allan Border Medal for 2016.

  • Indian lawyer and human rights defender Henri Tiphagne on 26 January 2016 was selected for the 8th Human Rights Award by Amnesty International Germany.

  • Rajasthan Government along with its power distribution companies (DISCOMS) has signed a MoU to join UDAY (Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana) Scheme. 

Union Government launched National Job Portal for Persons with Disabilities 

  • The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot on 27 January 2016 launched the National level Job portal for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
