Haven't Paid Your Loan? You're Not Eligible for SBI PO

Published on Monday, February 13, 2017
State bank of India, India’s biggest public sector bank, manage a recruitment process for the probationary officer and junior associate on yearly basis. This year the notice for SBI PO recruitment has just released. The available vacancy is comparatively more than from last year but there are two new eligibility criteria for applicants.
  • Unpaid loan
  • Unattainable issue against character
These two eligibility criteria are first time introduced by State bank of India in their advertisement notice for Probationary officer.

Unpaid loan:

An applicant who has an unpaid loan debt or any kind of default in unpaid loan record or bad credit history is not available for appointment. SBI clearly asserted in their official notice – “Candidates with a record of default in repayment of loans/credit card dues and/or against whose name adverse report of the CIBIL or other external agencies is available are not eligible to apply for the post,”. It means any applicant with any kind of unpaid or default or irregular repayment loan like education loan, house loan, car loan, personal loan etc. are not eligible for SBI PO recruitment 2017.
→ Credit Information Bureau (India) limited collects and maintain every record of loan repayments and credit cards of every individual. These records are submitted to CIBIL by every bank and financial institute. SBI may verify CIBIL report before giving appointments to candidates.
→ The bank employees union seeking immunity for education loan borrowers to this rule. The general secretary of Bank Employees Federation of India Pradip Biswas said “such borrowers should not be equated with willful defaulters… they can start repayment only when gainfully employed”.

The Unattainable issue against character:

→The other one is Issue against applicant’s character. SBI clear says in their official notification – “candidates against whom there is/are adverse report regarding character and antecedents, moral turpitude are not eligible to apply for the post.”
→It means any applicant with any bad character report/ unattainable issue against character/ pending police case/ a lawsuit/ bad behavior history is not eligible for SBI PO recruitment process 2017. With increasing number of frauds, SBI wants employees with clean character history.
