CAT (Common Admission Test) is the most prestigious entrance test for admission in IIM's and other reputed institutions in India. Biggest mistake that students do while preparations is following just basic books provided by coaching institutes. Study material provided by coaching institutes is always copied from some well known books and it is mostly incomplete. It is wise to buy books of well known authors and start preparations bit early. Whereas institutes charge Rs 30,000 to 40,000 for 6 months coaching, a student can score better by purchasing books of well known authors.
In case of quantitative ability section, students need to practice a lot. In coaching institutes's study material, questions are normally of beginner's level while in CAT exam only 15-20% questions are of beginner's level.
