How to crack IBPS PO exam - Tips and Tricks

IBPS PO 2013 exam dates are coming close. This time it is expected that about 8 lac candidates will compete for 20,000. Although the final selection ratio is about 2.5%, still if a candidate prepare for every section wisely, he can crack IBPS PO exam very easily.

IBPS PO question papers contains five sections :

  • Quantitative aptitude
  • English language
  • General awareness/Banking awareness(PO)
  • Reasoning
  • Computer knowledge

1) Quantitative aptitude

Quantitative aptitude section checks the mathematical ability of candidate. For this section, you have to study and practice various mathematical tricks and shortcuts. Mathematical tricks help you to save time and enhance your speed in exam. The more you do practice for this section, the more will be the accuracy. There is a provision of negative marking i.e. 0.25 negative marking for each wrong question. Therefore, accuracy is must. Step by step you need to go for some difficult questions so as to maintain a level in this exam. This section is highly scoring. You just need to do practice. Try to cram the formulas if needed and by heart the tables upto 30. Try to learn shortcut tricks, here we shown time and work (Practice questions and video lessons) and alligation tricks. 

2) English language

English language section tests your English language ability. You need to read at least one daily English newspaper to improve your knowledge and refer some books for this section also. Mostly candidates do not give same time to this section, but this section requires your maximum attention. You should learn atleast 20 words a day with its synonyms and anonymous. There are various questions which tests your grammar and vocabulary. So, you need to work on it. Practice atleast one comprehension a day. A little time devoted to this section will help you to fetch good marks.

3) General awareness

General awareness section is very vast. You have to keep yourself up to date with world around. It includes current affairs, budgets, five year plans, latest technologies adopted by banks, sports, books, authors, various abbreviations, economy etc. This section covers everything related to the modern world. To fetch good marks in this section, you need to work daily. Newspaper reading is must. Be in touch with the real world.

4) Reasoning section

Reasoning section tests your mental aptitude and skills in attempting the questions and your observing power also. This section also judges your decision making ability. It requires just your concentration. You need to make a mind map for each question and ultimately you will reach to your answer. This section is also a scoring one. So, maximum practice is needed to deal with various figure problems and mirror images.

5) Computer knowledge

Computer knowledge section judges your strength in computer area. Questions include various terms and abbreviations related to computer knowledge. You need to focus on various terms related to computer fundamentals. Cover each and every topic in the syllabus.  You need to have very basic computer knowledge. This will help you to fetch good marks.

Books for preparation

I have already made a list of best books for ibps po exam 2013. I have tried to include only selective books, I strongly recommend you to follow these books only. There are many low quality all in one books available in the market. There is no way to crack IBPS PO by reading a 300 pages book. You need to read one book for every section thoroughly.
