  • The Global Happiness survey 2019 was conducted by Ipsos’s Global Advisor online survey platform. The survey included 28 countries and all the data for the survey was taken between May 24th and June 7th, 2019 by the organisation.
  • The sample survey was based on the data of more than 1000 individuals from each of Australia, France, Brazil, Japan, Canada, Great Britain, China (mainland), Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the United States. Other than this, the survey consisted of more than 500 individuals from each of South Africa, Argentina, Sweden, Belgium, Chile, Poland, Colombia, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Turkey.

Key Findings of the Global Happiness Survey

  • According to the survey, Australia and Canada are jointly placed on top spot as the happiest nations.
  • These top nations are followed by China, Great Britain and France.
  • France is followed by US and Saudi Arabia.
  • Argentina has been ranked lowest among the 28 nations.
  • Global Happiness has declined in the year 2019 in comparison to 2018.

India Specific Findings

  • India has been ranked 9th on Happiness among 28 global markets in the Ipsos Global Happiness Survey.
  • There is a 6 per cent drop in the happiness level of India from the year 2018. The happiness level of India was 83% in 2018 and is 77% in 2019.
