Prime Minister Office

1. Foundation Stone of C-295

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of the C-295 Transport Aircraft Manufacturing Facility in Vadodara, Gujarat.
  • This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft (C- 295) will be manufactured in India under technology transfer by the private sector.
  • This aircraft can be used for civilian purposes as well.
  • It is also the first time that the C-295 aircraft will be manufactured outside of Europe.

2. New Complaint Management Portal

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the new Complaint Management System Portal of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) during Vigilance Awareness Week from 31st October 2022 to 6th November 2022.
  • The theme was “Corruption-free India for a developed nation”.

Ministry of Defense

1. Raksha Mantri Awards

  • Union Minister of Defense, Mr. Rajnath Singh has presented the “Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence in the Defence and Aerospace Sector for 2021-22”.
  • This award was granted for the best medium-scale industry innovation.
  • Data Patterns (India) Limited, a Chennai Tamil Nadu-based provider of defense and aerospace electronics systems, received the “Raksha Mantri Award for Excellence for 2021-22”.

2. BEL signs 5 MoUs

  • Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking signed 5 Memorandum of Understanding with 5 companies involved in the defense industries.
  • This is to meet the requirements of Indian Defense and export markets.
  • The 5 companies were SVC Tech Ventures LLP, Profense LLC, Spacefaring Technologies Private Limited, Hindustan Shipyard Limited, and Yantra India Limited.

3. World’s biggest employer

  • India’s Ministry of Defense is the World’s Biggest Employer according to the report by Statista Infographic titled “The World Biggest Employers- Employers with the most personnel worldwide (2022 or latest available)”
  • It employs around 2.92 million people, which includes combined active service personnel, reservists, and civilian staff.
  • India is followed by the United States (US) Department of Defense which employs 2.91 million people.
