IBPS Interviews Evaluation Criteria

In last 3 years lots of things have been changed. There were times when people were really very serious about exams like CAT, I appeared for this exam twice. In 2005, 2 lac candidates appeared in CAT, this year it is less than 2 lac. Why students are not serious about these exams ?

This question can be answered in just one word - IBPS. In IBPS PO, after clearing a simple exam and then then interview, you will get a package of 5 lacs. Trust me it's really very difficult in current scenario to fetch that much salary for a fresher n in private sector.

Read - How to Prepare for IBPS interview

As many of you have qualified IBPS PO exam, lets talk about the evaluation criteria (not official), what interviewers are looking for :-

IBPS-interview-prep

Confidence

Most important thing that interviewer test is Confidence. In IBPS interview panel, there will be 4-5 interviewers. All of them will ask you questions at once. It will be very difficult to decide which question to decide first.

Academics

Banking is not a creative industry, here you need to understand the processes, rules and methodology to perform various jobs. So banks prefer candidates with consistent and good academic performer. If you have scored more than 80% in all your academics then you have an edge over your competitors. Although there is no particular weight-age but normally candidates with less than 50% are rejected in interviews.

Seriousness

In IBPS PO 2012, out of 22000 about 5300 candidates didn't join. So Authorities want to make sure that only those candidates are selected who are serious about this job and who will join for sure. They want to minimize the number of candidates who don't join. This can be done only by knowing what candidate is doing now. If you are unemployed, just say this. It won't hurt you chances, but if you are already doing a good job, interviewer will doubt whether you join or not. If you are in same position then do some home-work and prepare yourself for such questions.

Work experience

Work experience in related industry matters a lot. Candidates who have 2-3 years of work experience in insurance, bank, investment, mutual funds, portfolio management, ad agency experience have an edge over their competitors. Work experience carries an unsaid weight-age

Communication skills

That's the most important part of any interview. Many readers ask me about the whether they can give interview in Hindi. Straight forward answer is NO. If interviewer is asking questions in English, Hindi or even in any regional language then you need to answer in the same language.

I think above points are enough. Last but least, never fall heated argument with interviewer, this will lead to rejection. Don't try to prove yourself by making arguments. Stay calm as your job is in the hands of interviewers.

In case of any doubt read this post and find documentations details here.

  8. I agree with you that by only clearing 1 objective exam and interview u will get 5 lac rs job which is very good as per current scenario but I m not agree with you on what u said SIMPLE exam, simple and tough is very subjective and vary with individual to individual, may be something is easy for u and difficult for me or vice-versa.
According to me PO is not a easy exam (after seeing po3 exam). It is easy because of the no of vacancy is very high (20000 around). If the no of vacancy would have less (1000 around) then it would have been a one of the difficult exam like RBI, SEBI.
And CAT is altogether a different ballgame if u can get more than 90%ile in CAT your career growth will be far better than PO career.
    Happy New Year Enjoy....:)

    1. 90%ile + You need 15lac in our bank account. Got 95%ile+ twice in CAT. Don't want to share my bad experience here :(
