  • S S Deswal has been given an additional charge of Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

  • General Manoj Mukund Naravane has been appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff.
  • He took charge as the 28th Chief of Army Staff.
  • He has succeeded General Bipin Rawat.

General Bipin Rawat

  • General Bipin Rawat has been appointed as the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
  • After the creation of this new post, Chief of Defence Staff will be a 4-star General, the principal military advisor to the defence minister, and will also head the new Department of Military Affairs.
  • The maximum age limit for a CDS is 65 years.

Christina Koch

  • Christina Koch has created a record of longest single spaceflight by a woman.
  • She has stayed more than 300 days in space.
  • Christina is a NASA Astronaut.
  • She has surpassed the earlier record of 288 days in space held by Peggy Whitson.

  • Hemant Soren became the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
  • He is the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Santosh G Honavar

  • Indian ophthalmologist has been conferred with the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) Life Achievement honour.
  • It is the highest award of the academy given to its members.
  • He is the first Indian chosen for the honour.

Virat Kohli

  • Indian Cricket team Captain Virat Kohli is one of the five players who have been named in the Wisden Cricketers of the Decade.
  • Other players in the list are Australian batsman Steve Smith, and South Africans, Dale Steyn, AB de Villiers and Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry who is the only female cricketer in the list.

  • Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, Sangita Reddy has been appointed as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) for 2019-20.
  • She succeeds in Sandip Somany.

  • India’s Ambassador to the US and a Senior Diplomat, Harsh Vardhan Shringla has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary.
  • He will succeed in Vijay Gokhale.
  • He is a 1984-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service.

Manuel Marrero Cruz

  • Manuel Marrero Cruz has been appointed Cuba's first prime minister in more than 40 years by the president of the country.
  • The post of prime minister was scrapped in the country in the year 1976 by the then-revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

  • Indian-American Dr Monisha Ghosh has been appointed as the first woman Chief Technology Officer at the US government’s powerful Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
