NOTE: Ex-servicemen, Commissioned officers including Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs)/ Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCO’s) who have rendered 5 years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within 6 months as on date of notification) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or physical disability attributable to military service or invalidment.

For AAO (Generalist): “Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University/Institution”.

 Service Conditions

Selected candidates for regular LIC posts will be governed by LIC’s service rules and can be posted or transferred anywhere in India. Most vacancies are in mofussil branches, where candidates will serve a minimum of five years outside their home zones. Requests for specific postings or transfers will not be entertained, and all decisions by LIC are final and not subject to legal challenge unless violating statutory provisions. 

Probation & Guarantee Bond

  • Appointed AAOs will undergo a probation period of one year, extendable up to two years. Performance will be continuously assessed, and failure to meet standards may lead to termination. LIC’s decision on probation completion is final and binding, unless overridden by statutory provisions.
  • Before joining, candidates must undertake to serve LIC for at least four years (including probation). Early exit will incur liquidated damages of ₹5,00,000. A Deed of Indemnity, duly stamped and notarized as per state laws, must be submitted at the candidate’s expense.

Selection Procedure

  • AAO selection involves Prelims, Mains, Interview, and a medical exam.
  • Prelims marks won’t count for final merit.
  • Mains + Interview marks determine final selection. Only those who qualify each phase will proceed. LIC’s decisions are final and binding, with no correspondence entertained.

  • Preliminary Examination consisting of objective test will be conducted online. 
  • The test will have three sections (with separate timings for each section). 
  • There will be NO negative marks. 
  • Candidates will have to qualify in each of the sections separately.
  • **English Language test will be of qualifying nature and the marks thereof will not be counted for ranking. 
  • Candidates approximately 20 times of number of vacancies in each category, subject to availability, will be shortlisted for Main examination.

  • Main examination will consist of objective tests for 300 marks and descriptive test for 25 marks. 
  • Both the objective and descriptive tests will be online. 
  • The objective test will have separate timing for every section. 
  • Candidates will have to answer descriptive test by typing on the computer. 
  • Descriptive test will be administered immediately after the completion of the objective test. 
  • There will be NO negative marks. 
  • Candidates have to qualify in each of the sections separately.
  • ** Descriptive test of English Language will be of qualifying nature and the marks thereof will not be counted for ranking.
  • Descriptive paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who qualify in the objective part of main examination.
