Experience (As on 23.11.2025)
Experience Required:
- Minimum 1 year post-qualification in Clerical/Officer cadre in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank (as per RBI Act, 1934).
Advance Increments:
- Officers from Scheduled Commercial Banks: 1 increment per completed year (max 2), if job profile matches Scale-I Generalist Officer of PNB.
- Officers from subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks: Eligible for increment only, if job profile matches.
- Proof Needed: Experience certificate in prescribed format, certified by current/previous employer.
- Not Counted: Experience in other financial institutions if job profile differs from Scale-I Generalist Officer.
- Final Authority: Bank’s decision is binding; no appeals allowed.
- Seniority: Prior service/experience not considered for seniority.
Credit History
- At the time of joining, candidates must have a minimum CIBIL score of 680 and a clean credit history.
- If CIBIL status is not updated, candidates must either update it or provide NOCs from lenders confirming no dues; otherwise, the appointment may be cancelled.
- Candidates without a bank account are exempt from producing CIBIL status.
- CIBIL score is not required at the application stage—only at the time of joining.
Probation Period & Service Bond
- Designation & Probation: Selected candidates will join as Local Bank Officers with a 2-year probation; confirmation as per PNB Officers’ Service Regulation, 1979.
- Posting: After training, LBOs will be placed in any Circle within the selected state.
- Tenure: Must serve in the same state for 9 years or until promotion to SMG Scale IV, whichever is earlier.
- Bank’s Authority: PNB reserves the right to decide postings, roles, and transfers.

- There will be negative marking for wrong answers. One – fourth of the marks assigned to each question will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks of 40% for General/EWS category and 35% for Reserved category in each section.
- The Bank, however, reserves the right to revise the minimum qualifying criteria at its sole discretion.
Screening
- Bank will scrutinize applications and documents of written test qualified candidates before Language Test/Interview.
- If found ineligible or documents are false/incorrect at any stage, candidature will be rejected and not considered further.
Language Proficiency Test
- Candidates who did not study the local language in 10th/12th must appear for LLPT.
- LLPT is qualifying only; failure to secure minimum marks = ineligible for final selection.
- Test will check reading, writing, speaking skills in the local language.
- Exempted: Those who studied the local language in 10th/12th, but must show valid proof (mark sheet/certificate).
Personal Interview
- All shortlisted candidates (with/without LLPT) will be called for Personal Interview.
- Number of candidates for interview decided by Bank based on Written Test + LLPT performance.
- Interview = 50 marks; qualifying marks: 22.5 (SC/ST), 25 (Others).
- Those failing to qualify in interview are disqualified.
Final Selection
- Final selection = Combined marks of Written Test + Interview, subject to LLPT qualification (if applicable), eligibility, and document verification.
- LLPT is mandatory; failure = ineligible, even with qualifying marks.
- Merit list prepared State-wise & category-wise from aggregate scores; LLPT-exempt candidates (10th/12th local language) included.
- Must qualify in both Written Test & Interview and be in merit for provisional appointment.
- Tie-breaker: Elder candidate (by DOB) placed higher.
