How to prepare for IBPS interviews

Published on Thursday, November 28, 2013
Many of you might have a misconception that interview doesn't make much impact on final score of IBPS and other recruitment as its weightage hovers around 20%. In reality, interview score makes a big dent on the chances of final selection.

Let's take an example A got TWSS of 160 in written exam, then out of 80 he scored 64. Then interview score will be added to 64. Just assume candidate scored 8 then his final score will be 72. Let's take another example - B got TWSS of 130 in written exam, so out of 80 he scored 52, if he score 18 in interview then his score will also become 72. This is a true case happened in IBPS PO 2012.

Tips to prepare for interview

Read your course books

As in most of the interviews, interviewer is going to ask about what you were doing till now. Most of the times there are 5 interviewers panel from different streams. You can't fool them assuming that you are an engineer or IT professional and those interviewers are bankers and finance professionals.

Read your course books as interviewers will ask you about your course concepts.

Read about banking industry

As you are going to become Assistant Manager in a PSU bank, which is a big thing in itself, interviewer expects you to have knowledge to basic banking and finance industry concepts.
A tricky question I was asked last year in IBPS PO interview was
Suppose bank gave business loan to a firm. Now the branch manager asks you whether the money used for said purpose or not ? You have all document but you can't go anywhere. Further financial statements and audit reports can be manipulated.

I recommend Barons of Banker for preparation.

Do some home work

Almost everybody have some issues in their resumes and academics. Some of you might have scored very low in graduation, some of you might be unemployed from past many months or you may have a service bond with your current employer. Many people were rejected in interviews.
