SSC Combined Graduate Level Tier 1 Exam Pattern

In the CGL Tier-1, there will be 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ's) to be asked from 4 Sections viz. English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Each section has 50 Questions and Each Question carry 1 mark.

The Total Duration of Tier-1 Exam is 2 Hours.

Penalty: There will be deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

A. General Intelligence & Reasoning

This Section has 50 Questions in the Tier-1 Exam. The Questions in this sections are asked from the Topics given below:

Analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, Blood Relation, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, Syllogism, Seating Arrangement, Directions, Coding-Decoding, Statement and Conclusions, Statement and Assumptions, Analogy, Ranking, Series Problems etc.

B. General Awareness

This is high scoring and Time Saving section in the CGL Tier-1 Exam. This section has 50 Questions and maximum time limit for this section is 20 mins.

1) Static GK Comprises of Questions from India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research, Current Affairs, Current GK, Books and Authors, Persons and Place in News, Abbreviations etc.

2) In Science Section, the Questions are asked from Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Section.

C. Numerical Aptitude

This is section with most weightage. In this section, 50 Questions will be asked in Tier-1 Exam. The Questions in this sections are asked from the Topics given below:

Whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between numbers, Number Theory (LCM, HCF, Prime No.s etc), Basic Maths, Algebra and Geometry, Speed, Distance and Time, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Probability, square roots, average, SI& CI, time and work, Triangle and its various kind of centres, circle and its chords, Tangents, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Right circular Cone & Cylinder, Sphere, Bar diagram, Pie chart,

(The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).

D. English Syllabus

We can say that this is easiest among all the sections. This section has 50 Marks in Tier-1. In this sections, questions are asked on these topics

Passage, Improving Sentences, Spotting Errors, Synonyms and Antonyms, Cloze test, Spelling test, Sentence completion, Idioms and phreses.
