Vocabulary Tricks Part 7: A Zoo

February 01, 2017
Read the following article about a zoo and try to guess the highlighted words first before reading their meaning.
A zoo is a place of keeping wild animals in an artificially created environment. People get thrilled by noticing different species of animals and birds. They get a chance to see lions and tigers walking majestically inside cages. There are also innumerable birds of different habitats and colours. These birds perch in cages.
Zoos have a great role in protecting endangered species of birds and animals from getting extinct. Zoos are a safe haven for animals like a tiger which are depleting fast.
However, continuous confinement can affect the physical and psychological well-being of animals because animals love to roam freely in the wilderness. Thus, zoos must endeavour to create a natural environment. Visitors should also follow instructions and should not agitate the animals.
