Area - Techniques to Solve with Practice Questions

Hello readers,

Today I am compiling some questions on Area – combining moderate and difficult level – such questions are very common for IBPS Clerical and upcoming NIA exam too.

Question 1.
A cube whose edge is 20cm long has a circle on each of its faces painted black. What is the total area of the unpainted surface of the cube if the circles are of the largest area possible?
Ans- 514.28cm square

Question 2.
The outer circumference of a circular track is 220m. The track is 7m wide everywhere. Calculate the cost of leveling the track at the rate of 50 paise per square metre.
Ans- Rs. 693

Question 3.
A silver wire when bent in the form of a square, encloses an area of 484cm square. Now if the same wire is bent to form a circle, the area enclosed by it would be
Ans- 616cm square

Question 4.
How many metres of cloth 5m wide will be required to make a conical tent, the radius of whose base is 7m and height is 24m?
Ans- 110m

Question 5.
In a swimming pool measuring 90m by 40m, 150 men take a dip. If the average displacement of water by a man is 8 cubic metres, what will be rise in water level?
Ans- 33.33cm

Question 6.
A road that is 7 m wide surrounds a circular path whose circumference is 352m. What will be the area of the road?
Ans- 2618cm square

Question 7.
The internal and external diameters of a hollow hemispherical vessel are 24cm and 25cm respectively. The cost of painting 1cm square of the surface is Rs. 0.05. Find the total cost of painting the vessel all over.
Ans- Rs. 96.28

Question 8.
A toy is in the shape of a right circular cylinder with a hemisphere on one end and a cone on the other. The height and radius of the cylindrical part are 13cm and 5cm respectively. The radii of the hemispherical and conical parts are the same as that of the cylindrical part. Calculate the surface area of the toy if the height of conical part is 12cm.
Ans- 770cm square

Question 9.
Two goats are tethered to diagonally opposite vertices of a field formed by joining the mid points of the adjacent sides of another square field of side 20√2. what is the total grazing area of the two goats?
Ans.: 2200/7 mt sq.

Question 10.
In a right angled triangle, find the hypotenuse if the base and the perpendicular are respectively 36015 cm and 48020cm.
Ans.: 60025 cm.
