Lessons Learnt from IBPS PO Mains Exam

Published on Sunday, November 01, 2015
Hi readers,

Many of you appeared for  IBPS PO Mains exam. It was one of the most difficult exam I have ever
seen. Difficulty level of the exam was equivalent to CAT.

Get ready for difficult exams

Yesterday's IBPS PO Mains exam reminds me of CAT 2011 exam. It was tough. Even good students who performed really well in Mocks started make lame guesses. Everyone got panicked. It was an
important exam for all so everyone wanted to attempt 130-140 questions at any cost.

Stay Calm

Many students messed up the whole exam after getting panicked in first few minutes. That was the sole reason behind making my exam strategy. Many of yo didn't have time for General awareness and Computer awareness section, that was the saddest thing to hear. Those who are going to appear for IBPS Clerk Prelims, read my 8 Weeks Study Plan.

General Awareness is decision maker

Exam was difficult but General Awareness section was easy. As usual capital of countries, currencies of countries, government schemes, current affairs and RBI guidelines took big slice of the pie. This section wasn't a surprise. It's easy to score 25+ in this section. Further Computer awareness section was also easy. So one one score 40+ in these two sections and expected cutoff is around 85. So these sections were decision maker.

Accuracy is the key to success

Many students picked Reasoning in the beginning. It was really difficult. After getting panic, they lost their hopes. They started making lame guesses, many of them attempted 170-190 questions. Their probability of getting selected is near to zero. Best strategy was to pick easy questions and solve them. Always attempt Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning at last. High accuracy is the key to success. Ideal attempt was 120-125 with 90% accuracy. 100% accuracy is ideal but most of the times it's not possible, so we make it a benchmark to stop ourselves from making lame guesses.
