Claustrophobia

Definition : an extreme fear of being in a small confined place; the unpleasant feeling that a person gets in a situation which restricts them
Usage:  I have felt a terrible claustrophobia in a small theatre


Beatitude

Definition:  (in the Bible) the eight statements made by Christ about people who are blessed
2) Supreme blessedness or happiness.
Usage:  A beatitude child will be more blessed.

Niggardly

Definition:  unwilling to be generous with money, time, etc. | not worth much and given unwillingly
Usage:  He was such a niggard that he would not pay for his daughter's medicine

Extrovert

Definition:  a lively and confident person who enjoys being with other people
Usage: Their relationship didn't work out because he was an extrovert who hated to be alone and she was an introvert who preferred to be alone.

Affiliate

Definition:   a company, an organization, etc. that is connected with or controlled by another larger one
Usage:  our local Humane Society is an affiliate of a national organization

Sacrilegious

Definition:  Grossly irreverent toward what is or is held to be sacred.| an act of treating a holy thing or place without respect
Usage:  Everyone glared at him for being so sacrilegious as to swear in church.

Putrid

Definition:  decaying and therefore smelling very bad | very unpleasant
Usage : " a putrid dark colour"

Campaign

Definition:  1) a series of planned activities that are intended to achieve a particular social, commercial, or political aim
2) a series of attacks and battles that are intended to achieve a particular military aim during a war
Usage:  A new campaign has begun to encourage more people to become blood donors.

Depict

Definition to show an image of someone or something in a picture
2) to describe something in words, or give an impression of something in words or with a picture
Usage A gallery of pictures depicting famous battles

Carnage

Definition:  the violent killing of a large number of people
Usage : There was much carnage on the battlefield.

Scanty

Definition:  too little in amount for what is needed | very small and not covering much of your body
Usage : The scanty amount of food on the table was barely enough for the whole family.

Colander

Definition:  a metal or plastic bowl with a lot of small holes in it, used for draining water from vegetables, etc. after washing or cooking
Usage:  They will drain the pasta in the metal colander.

Credibility

Definition:  the quality that someone or something has that makes people believe or trust them
Usage:  Jack's credibility was good so he was able to get a loan

Acumen

Definition:  the ability to understand and decide things quickly and well
Usage:  Daniel approached the issues with great acumen.

Serene

Definition:  calm and peaceful
Usage:   a serene smile
