May 30, 2015
Today I am going to share various techniques to find square of a number. It's always recommended to learn tables and squares up to 40. I have already shared squaring technique here.

Must read

Finding Square of No. Ends with 5

Example : Find Square of 65

  • Step 1: Each time you just need to perform square of 25 whenever you find digit ends with 5 and the square of 5 is 25.
  • Step 2: Add 1 to left most single digit.Multiplication like 6+1=7; 6*7=42.
  • Sol:4225

Find Square of 35

  • Step 1:Perform the square of 5.square of 5 is 25.
  • Step 2.Pick the left most digit add 1 to this.like here 3+1=4 & Result will always be multiply with actual value.Like 3*4 which is 12.

Hence solution is : 1225

Finding Square of Any No. From 1 to 100

Pick Any No. Just like this:

Example: Find square of 38

Hint: Just Remember 50 & 25 for solving purpose
If  No is less then 50 Subtract and If greater than perform Addition

  • Step 1 : Subtract the No from 50 like in this case :50-38=12
  • Step 2 :Get the square of that no. like here square of 12 is 144& carry 1
  • Step 3:Find 38 is whether greater or smaller then 25 ,whatever the case apply according to it.
  • 38>25 hence 38-25=13
  • Step 4 : Add the Carry which we got in step 2 with the result of step 3 like in this case :13+1=14
  • Step 5:Get the Answer by joining the Result of Step 4 & step 2 like in this case :1444

Finding Square of No. Above or Below 100

Hint : Just Remember the Base value like here 100
[Just Remember: If No. is greater than 100 just Add if smaller then perform subtraction]

Example : Square of 112

  • Step 1 ; Compare with Base 100 so here is 12 just add the no with base value
  • 112+12=124
  • Step 2 : Find the difference between the base and make the square of it.
  •              Like here : 12*12=144
  • Step 3 :Now we have 124 & 144. make it like this 124/144 here the no with 144 the digit 1 is carry .Just add the carry with 124.Like this 124+1=125
  • Step 4 : At Last just joins it like this: 125/44 so it became 12544 .
